Liposomal EDTA w/ R-Lipoic Acid Liposomal EDTA w/ R-Lipoic Acid is a highly absorbable liposomal form of oral EDTA, delivered with the antioxidant R-lipoic acid. Very small liposomes, such as those that deliver Liposomal EDTA w/ R-Lipoic Acid, are rapidly absorbed orally and via the lymphatics, also allowing for intracellular delivery of their encapsulated contents. For some compounds and nutritional substances, this can lead to higher intracellular delivery than is possible even with intravenous (IV) therapies.* Lipoic acid has been shown to extend the biological activity of vitamins C and E, also raising ubiquinol (commonly known as CoQ10) levels and endogenous production of glutathione via the Nrf2 nuclear transcription pathway.* Lipoic acid has evidence as a chelator of redox-active metals in vitro and in vivo.* Lipoic acid has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier, which is why it also has been shown to have neuroprotective actions.*

EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is a metal chelator, and is used for the targeting of heavy metals besides mercury such as lead and cadmium.*
